My Why

Welcome!

Isaieh Heiken's the name and business marketing's my game! I'm currently enrolled at Linn Benton Community College however I'm not allowed on the campus this term. And I know what you're thinking. No, it's not because they finally got fed up with me. It's because of a global pandemic sweeping the country, causing all schools and "non-essential" businesses to close. One of those businesses includes mine where I work as a professional organizer for a local company called Queen B organizing. I'm currently right on track for life, going to school full time and working part time, aswell as developing new skills, creating new connections, and having alittle bit of fun along the way.

I'm creating this blog for my online business marketing class. I enrolled in this course not only as it is a requirement for my business major but as well as I hope to develop my major into marketing as whole. I find marketing fascinating because of the idea that you are taking something that someone (or even yourself) is very passionate about and making it something that someone else is passionate about. The idea that people speak with their dollar and time and for one reason or another, whether it because the need what you have or you've inspired them, they decide to come to you to solve their problem. And all of that wouldn't be possible without marketing, if they don't know not only that you exist but if they don't know why you do.

Outside of my passion for business and learning about marketing and providing value. I love learning new things and really just doing anything that creates connections and bonds with people. Whether it be a snowboarding trip to the mountains (I switched to ultimate frisbee from football in high school because of the community) to simply going out to a lunch with someone to talk about a shared interest. Anything with other people.

Sincerely,
The Stuck Inside Stay At Home Student

Nintendo's Quarantine

Covid-19 has swept the world, disrupting businesses and pass-time alike. People are finding themselves stuck at home with nothing to do but work and try to fill empty time with some entertainment. So where do they go? They turn to video games. Nintendo has always been extremely popular among a very wide variety of gamer since its founding in the late '80s. While the other two game console giants (Xbox and PlayStation) fight to gain supremacy with very little differences between the two and their games. Nintendo offers an easy to use, family-friendly, and simple gaming experience with games that are not only familiar to long time players like the Mario and Animal Crossing series but easy to learn and jump into with friends and family like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. This made them the perfect console to pass the time while families are stuck inside with nothing to do. Customers from all around the globe would have already been more than happy to buy the already 3-year-ol...

Pandemic Marketing

This week on the website AdWeek.com, an article was published detailing many different things that this pandemic has brought to the market, specifically using one of the countries leading pizza delivery chains, Domino's. The first and main thing that the article details is that this pandemic has made advertising and marketing as a whole increasingly daunting as companies are finding difficulties in shooting commercials without access to a production set and team. The article goes on to praise Domino's for no only their flexibility, speed, and creativity in these unique times, but being able to create and produce this ad entirely through Zoom within just over a weeks time. The second thing that this article highlights is that this ad is entirely a edit of a zoom chat between multiple Domino's Franchisee's and one of the directors, Ari Levi. This shows that dynamics are having to change as a typical ad would be directed by an "outside director" on a prod...
